McKeever Hotels unveils new five-year growth strategy

McKeever Hotels has unveiled a new five-year strategy outlining plans for further growth, performance improvements and sustainability across its portfolio in Ireland and beyond.

Managing director Eddie McKeever set out the group’s ambitions at the launch of its ‘Beyond Now’ strategy, which aims to build on the company’s strong performance over the past three years.

The plan aligns with the World Tourism Organisation’s 2030 vision to enhance guest experiences through sustainability, personalisation and technology.

The family-run business, which added The Lodge in Coleraine and the Armagh City Hotel to its portfolio in 2023, now operates seven hotels with a combined turnover of more than £25m. It plans to explore further expansion in the Republic of Ireland and Scotland.

A £3m capital investment programme will support the group’s plans, including upgrades designed to help The Lodge and Armagh City Hotel achieve four-star accreditation by 2027.

The group also aims to increase occupancy by about 10% through competitive pricing, service improvements and a new central reservations system.

According to the hotel group, the system will serve as a single hub for bookings, helping to “optimise pricing, profitability and customer loyalty while enabling a deeper understanding of guest preferences”.

Food and beverage will remain a key focus, led by a newly appointed group food and beverage executive.

The role will oversee menu innovation and support a centralised purchasing platform to improve efficiency and cost control.

Each hotel will continue to promote Northern Ireland’s agri-food sector through signature dishes, including a “McKeever Breakfast” experience.

Additionally, sustainability will remain central to the group’s long-term vision, with a focus on renewable energy, operational efficiency and community engagement through local employment and supplier partnerships.

Looking ahead to the company’s 40th anniversary in 2026, McKeever said the strategy “sets a clear direction for growth, innovation and social impact”.

McKeever, managing director, said: “While our strategy remains growth focused, we want to do so in a way which creates a harmonious balance between success, family values, service excellence and community culture,

“By 2030 we have the potential to employ 600 people with a group turnover of £45m, all of which will be driven and underpinned by the family values that have successfully defined the brand for the past four decades.”

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
