Horwood House hotel has launched a training programme alongside Buckinghamshire New University and Milton Keynes College Group to support young women entering the hospitality industry.
The venue in Little Horwood developed the Young Women Leaders in Hospitality course to provide participants with industry insight, communication skills and leadership training through two interactive modules and a final presentation.
More than 20 women attended the first session at the hotel. Attendees included Horwood House employees, local college students and regional hospitality workers.
The session covered career pathways, leadership qualities and networking skills. The project forms part of the hotel’s strategy to invest in the local community and strengthen regional education partnerships.
The venue has established ties with local education providers to bridge the gap between education and industry. Organisers hope the scheme will encourage more women to consider roles in the sector and support the local talent pipeline.
The next course takes place at the hotel on 22 June.
Tracy Montgomery, creative consultant at Horwood House, said: “When I started my career, I was very fortunate to be supported by strong women managers and leaders who helped me build confidence, develop my skills and to communicate clearly.
“Young Women Leaders in Hospitality is our way of giving that support back. We want women across Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire to see the breadth of opportunity within hospitality, to feel confident in professional environments and to understand that this industry can offer long-term, rewarding careers.”
She added: “It was a pleasure to welcome so many young women to Horwood House for the first course and to hear them share their ambitions, development needs and ideas while supporting one another.”

The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
