Marriott International has announced it will open the largest Aloft by Marriott-branded hotel in Manchester city centre next week (16 June), which will mark the brand’s first property in the city.
The hotel, which will feature 358 rooms in a prominent position on Deansgate, was developed by luxury property developer Dean Street Developments. The site includes panoramic views across the city skyline.
Upon opening, Aloft by Marriott Manchester will be affiliated with the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty scheme, allowing guests to use digital keys and mobile check-in via an app.
Facilities at the site will also include a 24-hour fitness centre, a private meeting space, and a grab-and-go food station, as well as a cocktail bar that hosts live music performance events, alongside dedicated amenity programmes for families and pets.
Adi Hodzic, managing director of Dean Street Developments, said: “This opening is a defining moment for Dean Street Developments, for Aloft by Marriott, and for Manchester’s hospitality landscape. We set out to create a landmark, and we believe we have.”
Sandra Schulze-Potgieter, Marriott International VP of brand management for EMEA, added: “We are delighted to introduce Aloft by Marriott to Manchester, bringing this upscale, lifestyle brand to one of the UK’s most dynamic cities. Aloft is different by design.
“It is a hub, or launching and landing pad for all that travel has in store, bringing our unique attitude and atmosphere to each and every stay, now also in Manchester – a city internationally recognised for its creativity, individuality and innovation.”

In October 2014, Starwood Hotels announced the opening of the Aloft Liverpool, which marked the brand’s expansion into the UK, further showcasing the rising popularity of the Aloft brand in major urban centres like Manchester and Liverpool, where dynamic cultural and business environments exist. The hotel truly embodied the transformation of historic buildings, a trend that has taken root in the region’s hospitality sector through innovative designs and concepts following a £18m renovation.
Additionally, Marriott’s 2016 opening of the second AC Hotel in Manchester, investing £15.5m to develop the venue, underscored the region’s growing demand for top-tier accommodation targeting business travellers, in tandem with the city’s commitment to enhancing its hospitality offerings following the introduction of AC Hotels.
