The Crown Hotel in Newton Stewart brought to market

The Crown Hotel in the centre of Newton Stewart, Dumfries and Galloway has been brought to market with an asking price of £895,000. 

The hotel occupies a position on Queen Street near the River Cree, and features 15 refurbished en suite letting rooms, comprising four double rooms, four twin rooms, three family rooms and four single rooms. It also features a private parking area for around 10 cars.

The ground floor contains Knights restaurant, which has a private bar, conservatory and beer garden. 

The first floor features a function space that accommodates 120 people for events. Five self-catering apartments with a plot of land are also available by separate negotiation.

The venue has operated as a traditional hotel, but has potential for development into a wellness retreat, spa destination or boutique nature lodge. 

Current owner Sinead Farrell, who bought the business in 2008, is selling the property due to relocating abroad.

Christie and Co hospitality associate director Tony Spence is managing the sale process and said: “The Crown Hotel represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a well-established and profitable business in the heart of a popular market town. The property offers a strong combination of high-quality accommodation, a well-regarded food offering, and substantial function space, which together provide multiple, diversified income streams.

“We are continuing to see good levels of demand for regional hotels of this nature, particularly where there is clear scope for a new owner to further develop the business. The Crown Hotel is ideally positioned to benefit from this, and we expect it will attract a wide range of interested parties.”
