Minor Hotels appoints Egypt managing director

Minor Hotels has announced the appointment of Tamer Khedr as managing director for Egypt to lead its long-term expansion plans across the country.

The newly-created role establishes a dedicated leadership structure in Egypt. Khedr will oversee operations and development activities from a base within the country, reporting to the regional office in Dubai.

He joins the company from DO Hotels, where he was chief executive officer. Khedr previously held senior leadership positions at Emaar Hospitality Group, Baron Palace Sahl Hasheesh, and Shangri-La Dubai.

The appointment comes as the company accelerates its expansion in Egypt. Minor Hotels announced Anantara Somabay Resort and Residences earlier this year, marking the debut of its luxury brand on the Red Sea.

The company is also progressing a strategic partnership with Sunrise Resorts and Cruises. Established in 2025, the partnership aims to develop up to 50 hotels, resorts, and Nile cruises over 10 years.

Amir Golbarg, chief operating officer for Minor Hotels Middle East and Africa, said: “Egypt is one of the most strategically important markets in Minor Hotels’ growth journey and a key focus for our future expansion.

“The creation of this role reflects our long-term commitment to the market, and we are delighted to welcome Tamer to lead our growth ambitions in Egypt. His extensive industry experience and strong leadership credentials make him exceptionally well positioned for the role.”

Khedr added: “I am honoured to join Minor Hotels at such an exciting moment in its growth journey. Egypt continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s most compelling tourism destinations, and Minor Hotels has established ambitious plans for the market.

“I look forward to working closely with our teams and partners to support the company’s expansion, elevate guest experiences and build a portfolio that contributes to the continued success of Egypt’s hospitality sector.”

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
