The Montenotte in Cork has unveiled 36 new Signature Collection guestrooms, following a £1.7m investment continuing its development as a design-led urban resort.
Designed in collaboration with GDC interiors, the rooms feature a residential-style of accommodation, including bespoke furnishings, ambient lighting, timber flooring and oversized inset carpets. The rooms also include upgraded bathrooms, walk-in showers and gold fittings to reflect a spa-like experience.
The approach is in response to a broader shift towards more experience-focused stays, with layouts tailored to how guests will use and enjoy the space.
The hotel is part of the Chesway Collection, a group of properties currently undergoing a wider transformation spanning The Montenotte, The Wilder Townhouse and the Woodland Suite Experience. The transformation will bring together a group of properties independently owned by hoteliers Frankie and Jo Whelehan through a focus on design-led hospitality.
Frankie Whelehan, owner of the Chesway Collection, said: “With this investment, we wanted to build on what people already love about The Montenotte while introducing something that feels softer and even more refined to spend time in. It’s about creating spaces that feel personal and considered, where design, atmosphere and experience come together in a way that feels natural rather than overstated.”
The renovation follows recent leadership changes across the group, following the appointment of Frits Potgieter, chief executive of the Chesway Collection. Potgieter was formerly general manager of The Montenotte.
