Whitbread is set to close all 106 Beefeater and 89 Brewers Fayre sites across the UK in early September as part of a major business overhaul.
The restructuring will result in around 3,800 job losses across the UK and Ireland to secure £250m in cost savings over the next five years.
All 89 Brewers Fayre eateries are scheduled to shut following dinner service on 7 September, with all 106 Beefeater branches closing on 10 September.
A spokesperson for Whitbread said: “We first announced our accelerating growth plan to sell a number of our Branded Restaurants in April 2024.
“In April 2026 we announced that, subject to consultation, we were extending the programme to include all remaining Branded Restaurants that will see us add a total of 3,600 new hotel extension rooms in locations where we know we have strong demand. Following consultation, we have now taken the decision to proceed with this proposal.”
They added: “We recognise the impact of this proposal on colleagues and a business that recruits around 15,000 people every year, we are aiming to redeploy as many of those impacted colleagues as possible. We will continue to offer a great breakfast and dinner at all hotels, replacing Branded Restaurants with a restaurant inside the hotel.
“This mirrors the format which is already in operation in over half of Premier Inn hotels and is highly popular with hotel guests. For Brewers Fayre this means it closes after dinner service on 7 September. For Beefeater it’s 10 September and other brands including Table Table and Cookhouse + Pub it’s 3 September.”
