Hamlet Hotels has acquired the 60-bedroom Best Western Thurrock Hotel in Aveley, Essex, for an undisclosed sum.
The hotel will continue to trade under the Best Western Thurrock name, with Hamlet Hotels assuming responsibility for management and operations. Hamlet Hotels plans to invest in the guest experience and commercial performance of the property.
Located close to the M25 and Dartford Crossing, the hotel’s trading mix includes corporate and leisure stays, groups, weddings, meetings, conferences and events. The property features Scholars Restaurant, which has more than 100 covers, Scholars Bar and several lounge areas.
Additionally, the hotel has eight meeting and conference rooms, with the largest space accommodating approximately 200 – 300 delegates. It also holds a wedding and civil ceremony licence and has patio, courtyard garden and lawn areas, as well as extensive on-site parking.
Hamlet Hotels said initial investment will focus on the meetings and events business, food and beverage and the wedding proposition. The takeover forms part of its wider UK acquisition and management programme.
