The Keswick Country House Hotel has been sold to South African operator The Kronen Collection off an asking price of £8m. The sale was brokered by specialist hotels agency Colliers on behalf of Choice Hotels, which had owned the 73-bedroom property for 24 years.
Located in 5.45 acres of grounds on the edge of Keswick town centre, the property generated an annual net turnover exceeding £4m. The site sits within the Lake District National Park, adjacent to the Keswick to Threlkeld Trail with views towards Skiddaw and Latrigg.
The acquisition strengthens the presence of The Kronen Collection in Cumbria. The group now operates three hospitality assets in the county, alongside Jesmond Dene House in Newcastle and Borrowdale Gates Hotel in the Lake District.
The new owners intend to undertake a refurbishment and repositioning programme at the site.
A spokesperson for Choice Hotels said: “Having owned and operated the Keswick Country House Hotel for almost 25 years, we are immensely proud of everything that has been achieved during our stewardship. Through ongoing investment and the dedication of our team, the hotel has built a strong reputation as one of the Lake District’s leading leisure destinations. We are delighted to hand the business over to The Kronen Collection and wish them every success as they embark on the next chapter for this wonderful hotel.”

Demand remains strong for quality hotels in established trading locations, and this sale marks the 73rd Cumbrian hotel and hospitality business transaction that Colliers has advised on since the beginning of 2021.”
