The Queensberry Hotel in Bath has announced the appointment of Oliver Harris to the role of general manager.
Harris began his career after graduating from Edge Hotel School nine years ago. He joined the Exclusive Collection’s graduate programme at South Lodge Hotel in West Sussex, later becoming food and beverage manager at Fanhams Hall Hotel.
In 2021, he moved to Whatley Manor Hotel in the Cotswolds, where he held several operational roles and contributed to the hotel becoming the first in the UK to receive EarthCheck Silver accreditation.
He later joined De Vere Tortworth Court to gain experience in large-scale commercial operations before moving to the Queensberry Hotel.
In addition, Harris is currently an ambassador for Hospitality Action and won an Acorn Award in 2023. He was previously shortlisted for the ‘General Manager of the Future’ award in 2022.
Harris said: “I am delighted and extremely grateful to accept this position. It is what so many aspiring leaders dream of, and work towards, in their hospitality careers. I am under no illusion that the hard work starts now, and I look forward to taking on this challenge, and grasping this opportunity with both hands.
“The Queensberry Hotel and Olive Tree Restaurant is perfect for me; we have a small, but entirely dedicated team of wonderful people who I’m proud to lead through tough times, guided as always by our shared sense of what generous, luxurious hospitality looks like.”
Owned by Laurence and Helen Beere, the Queensberry Hotel occupies four Georgian terraced buildings and offers 29 individually styled rooms. The Olive Tree restaurant, led by executive chef Chris Cleghorn, holds one Michelin star and is part of the Michelin Key-rated hotel.
