Chris Eigelaar, managing director of the Belfry Hotel and Resort in the Midlands, has been named as one of only 10 hospitality leaders awarded Master Innholder status for 2025.
The accolade recognises individuals who demonstrate “exceptional leadership, influence and commitment” in the sector. Judges praised this year’s cohort for “upholding best practices, driving forward industry standards, and inspiring both peers and the next generation of hospitality professionals”.
Eigelaar has spent over 20 years in hospitality and has led the Belfry for the past seven. During this time, he has overseen an £85m expansion, doubled the resort’s footprint and secured a five-year contract to host the Betfred British Masters.
The Belfry has twice been named among the top 30 best places to work in hospitality and, under Eigelaar’s leadership, has won more than 30 awards. It has delivered over 300 work experience placements, achieved record profits, reached a 50% gender split on its executive team, and launched ‘ESG Champions’, earning Earthcheck Benchmark Bronze status.
In 2024, Eigelaar was named on the ‘Power List: Market Marvels’ for innovation in hospitality. He also became chair of the Institute of Hospitality Midlands and joined the executive board of the Birmingham Hospitality Association.
Earlier this year, he led the Belfry’s inaugural Belfry Classic Golf Day, which raised £110,000 for charity and attracted celebrities from sport, music and entertainment.
