Blackstone acquires Seal Bay Resort to expand Haven network

Parent company Blackstone has announced the acquisition of Seal Bay Resort on England’s south coast for an undisclosed amount, expanding the network of holiday park operator Haven.

The resort, on the Selsey peninsula east of Portsmouth, contains more than 2,500 pitches.

Seal Bay will operate under its existing brand for the rest of 2026 before rebranding to Haven for the 2027 season. Holidaymakers can continue to book stays on the resort website.

The acquisition expands the portfolio of Haven, which currently runs 39 coastal holiday sites across England, Scotland and Wales. Each destination includes an indoor swimming pool, a supermarket, a pub-restaurant and food outlets.

Private equity firm Blackstone acquired Haven in 2021 and has since spent over £700m upgrading facilities, adding venues and expanding accommodation options.

Recent acquisitions by the company include Richmond Holiday Centre and Holivans Caravan Park.

Simon Palethorpe, chief executive of Haven, said: “I’m delighted that we are welcoming Seal Bay to the Haven family. It’s a fantastic park in the most stunning location and will sit brilliantly alongside our 39 other parks.

“Haven’s mission is all about making memories that last a lifetime and we can’t wait to start working with the Seal Bay team to deliver this for thousands of holiday makers and owners in the years to come.”

Seal Bay adds scale to a business prepared for sale

News Analysis

The acquisition pattern touched by Seal Bay began with Richmond Holiday Centre, which Haven bought in 2022 as its first purchase under Blackstone. It then acquired neighbouring Holivans Caravan Park in 2024 to enlarge Golden Sands, allowing the park one final season under its old name before incorporation. Golden Sands had already received £10m of investment. That sequence established Haven’s integration method: preserve trading continuity, then absorb the purchase into an upgraded regional estate.

That method now serves a possible transaction at group level. In July 2025 Blackstone was considering selling Haven as early as the following year, having installed standalone chief executives at Haven and Warner and pushed their operational and financial separation. The purchase therefore serves two purposes. Blackstone is adding scale to Haven while making the business easier to detach, giving any buyer a larger but more self-contained operating platform.

That prospective exit has not interrupted spending intended to strengthen Haven before any sale. Haven said in August 2025 that it would invest £140m across its parks during the year, after Easter bookings rose and summer sales ran ahead. The programme channelled capital into accommodation capacity and booking technology as well as park upgrades. New pitches and extended festive breaks were among the funded work.

The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English.
