Summer tourist bookings expected to remain stable across UK

More than half of British inbound tourism businesses expect summer bookings to remain stable or increase, according to a new survey from trade body UKinbound.

The latest Business Barometer survey of members, conducted by research company Navigator Insight, shows that 33% of respondents expect visitor numbers between July and September to match last year, while 29% expect a rise.

Revenue yields are expected to follow a similar pattern, with 34% of businesses forecasting flat returns and 32% expecting higher yields. Long-term confidence has also grown, with half of respondents feeling optimistic about the next 12 months, up from 39% in April.

Optimism is driven by strong advance bookings, growing group travel demand and early enquiries for 2027. However, the international picture remains mixed as the US represents both the strongest growth market and the largest source of decline.

Joss Croft, chief executive of UKinbound, said: “The summer outlook is encouraging, with many businesses reporting stable demand and growing confidence for the year ahead. That resilience is particularly welcome given the economic and geopolitical uncertainty facing many of our key international markets.

“Inbound tourism is one of the UK’s largest export industries, generating billions in export earnings and supporting jobs and businesses in every nation and region of the country. The sector has the potential to deliver even more growth, investment and opportunity, but success will require a clear focus on international competitiveness.”

The trade body has urged the incoming government to prioritise the sector, citing tourism as one of the largest export earners for the UK, supporting jobs and driving regional economic growth across the country.

The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
