Meininger Hotels will open a site in Edinburgh on 5 August, marking the hospitality group’s first entry into the Scottish market.
The 157-room property, which will be located in the West End of the city, will become the 38th hotel in the company’s European portfolio.
Meininger’s project consisted of the conversion of Osborne House, a 1970s office building which sat empty for several years before undergoing a structural extension.
Developer S Harrison owned the site, while Ogilvie Construction managed the build to introduce 549 beds to the city.
The property is located in the Haymarket district, close to the local railway station, Murrayfield Stadium and the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
Meininger said the hotel will use a hybrid format, offering a mix of private single, double and multi-bed rooms alongside shared dormitories and a guest kitchen.
News of the Edinburgh opening follows Meininger’s recent European expansion into Barcelona, Madrid, Porto and Tel Aviv.
The group operates across 27 European cities and plans to open a further property in Dublin in 2028.
Ahead of the opening, the hotel recruited a staff of around 20 employees across guest-facing and operational roles.
