Luxury London hotel The Mandrake has partnered with English rum brand Vapoura to launch a new collaboration combining an original vinyl release with a bespoke cocktail menu.
As part of the collaboration, The Mandrake has partnered with music producers Caralus and Daniel Sehnawi to create the EP inspired by different spaces within the hotel, including its Waeska bar, Jurema terrace and YOPO Zaytoun restaurant.
The limited-edition vinyl record is designed to reflect the atmosphere of the hotel, with each track representing a different area of the venue. The track is exclusive to the hotel, with a selection of copies remaining at The Mandrake, while a limited number will also be available for purchase through Vapoura.
Alongside the music release, The Mandrake has also introduced a limited-time Vapoura cocktail menu across its bars and restaurants. The offering includes Angel Sage, made with Vapoura Chapter One rum and Velvet Cocoon, which combines rum with coconut oil, watermelon and mango cordial.
The rum retailer said the collaboration was created to expand the brand beyond its product offering, with a focus on experiences associated with drinking rum. The launch reflects a trend within the hospitality and hotel sector increasingly developing immersive experiences and partnerships.
Olly Barkley, co-founder of Vapoura, said: “We never wanted to be just a rum brand. We wanted to build a world around the liquid and from day one that meant thinking about the experiences, the spaces, the moments our rum lives in, not just what’s in the bottle. Vapoura was created to punctuate a moment and Ed and I always attached music to those moments as the final ingredient, After Stories is about celebrating that.
“The Mandrake was a natural first partner. Few London venues are built with such distinct spaces – the botanical seclusion of Jurema, the dark energy of Waeska, the intimacy of YOPO Zaytoun – each with its own atmosphere to draw from. CARALUS and Daniel Sehnawi took each space in turn and turned its atmosphere into a track, so the record moves through the hotel as an evening there would.”
