Starboard Hotels has officially opened the AC Hotel by Marriott Birmingham NEC and Airport following a £4m refurbishment and rebrand of the former ibis Styles property.
The 169-bedroom hotel, which was officially opened by the Mayor of Solihull, marks the first Marriott-branded property in Starboard Hotels’ portfolio and comes as Birmingham Airport prepares for its busiest summer on record.
The refurbishment has transformed the hotel with redesigned guestrooms, a new AC Lounge, upgraded meeting facilities and energy-saving technology. The project also increased the property’s capacity with the addition of three new guestrooms.
Starboard Hotels acquired the former ibis Styles hotel in 2018, with renovation work beginning in August 2025 before being completed earlier this year.
