The UK’s first fully alcohol-free hotel and private members’ club has pushed back its planned opening, with Long Lane hotel now targeting a later launch in 2026.
Entrepreneurs Louis Blake and Harrison Hide are developing the 30-bedroom retreat in West Sussex’s South Downs National Park. The project, which has been positioned as a “Soho House minus the hangover”, was originally scheduled to open in summer 2026.
The project has faced multiple delays, with the team attributing common challenges associated with complex hotel developments.
Long Lane will operate without alcohol, instead focusing on health, longevity and sober living. The concept replaces alcohol with functional drinks, personalised nutrition and advanced wellness treatments.
Guests will be offered biometric and DNA testing on arrival, with the results used to create tailored programmes covering areas from dining to sleep. Facilities are expected to include cryotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, forest-based treatment spaces and a natural swimming pool, alongside a restaurant specifically focused on nutrition-led menus.
The development is set within a 55-acre estate surrounding Dunford House, a Grade II-listed property near Midhurst, with plans for accommodation in the main house as well as woodland cabins.
The opening comes as “dry tourism” gains traction, particularly among younger travellers seeking health-conscious, experience-led stays. The trend is also beginning to shape hotel concepts in destinations around the world.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
