Lamington Group has released further details of Lost Gardens Cambridge, the debut site for its new aparthotel brand scheduled to open in 2028.
The group acquired the former headquarters of Cambridgeshire County Council last year and said it intended to convert the site into a “future-ready asset.” The development will include 167 guest rooms across four floors and is scheduled to launch in 2028.
In a statement published on its website, the group said: “Facilities will include a spa, gym and an on-site restaurant offering farm-to-fork dining, supplied in part by an on-site urban farm.
“Biophilic design principles will be embedded across the hotel, enhancing biodiversity and strengthening the connection between guests and nature. The hotel will also be 100% electric, powered by low-carbon renewable energy, offering guests a carbon-neutral stay.”
The news follows the launch of Second Nature, the new brand for its Hometel portfolio, formerly known as room2, in a further push to drive sustainability within the brand. The group said that rather than treating it as an additional cost, it has opted to embed sustainability into the way it designs and operates its sites.
The company’s current sites in Chiswick, Southampton and Belfast have transitioned to the new brand, as will future locations including York, which is scheduled to open in May 2027.
Lost Gardens is the newest brand in the group’s portfolio, and will integrate “nature-led spaces and circular design principles throughout”.
