The Langham Eastbourne announces £1.2m refurb amid new ownership

The Langham Eastbourne has announced its acquisition by new owners Studio Stays Eastbourne, with the property set to undergo a £1.2m refurbishment programme following the sale.

The hotel, which includes 77 guestrooms and has been previously owned by Neil and Wendy for the last two decades, will see the refurbishment of its outdoor terrace, reception area and bar in January 2027, when the hotel will temporarily close.

The acquisition marks the first for the new owner, a firm that primarily operates short and long-term rentals across the UK, making this property its launch into the hotel sector.

All members of the hotel team are being retained, including Simon Brown in his position as general manager. The hotel also intends to introduce a revamped, concise restaurant menu, in partnership with chef Michael Tiverington.

Simon Brown, general manager of The Langham Eastbourne, said: “I’m excited to be part of this next chapter for The Langham Hotel Eastbourne. The first thing guests will notice is the new approach in the restaurant – with a menu that brings in more seafood and puts local produce front and centre.”

Neil Kirby, outgoing owner, said: “Wendy and I poured our hearts into The Langham for 21 years and it’s been the privilege of our working lives. We are excited by Studio Stays’ vision for the hotel, their commitment to the team and the local community. We’re excited to see what comes next.”

Located on the Eastbourne seafront, the Langham Hotel has been in operation since 1913, as a family-led business. The acquisition by Studio Stays Eastbourne, part of Studio Stays Group, marks a new phase of growth for the property.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
