Tokyo, Paris and Athens lead US holiday travel demand for 4 July

Tokyo, Paris and Athens are the fastest-growing international destinations for US travellers over the Independence Day (Saturday 4 July) holiday period, according to the latest research from travel intelligence firm Data Appeal Mabrian.

Data shows strong flight search demand for European, Asian and Caribbean destinations between 2 and 6 July.

Tokyo recorded the highest year-on-year growth, rising by 1.24% compared with the same holiday period in 2025. Paris and Athens followed with increases of 0.57% and 0.55% respectively.

Other European cities experiencing moderate growth include Milan, Rome, Barcelona and Madrid. Lisbon and the South Korean capital, Seoul, also registered increased demand from outbound American holidaymakers.

In the Caribbean, travel interest for San Juan in Puerto Rico rose by 0.49%. Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic recorded a smaller gain of 0.14%.

Conversely, destinations such as Bali, Vietnam and London saw more modest increases. The data reflects global flight search behaviour monitored by analysts between 1 April and 18 June.

Maria Pradissitto, North American market manager at Data Appeal, said: “The 4 July holiday period highlights the continued strength of Europe and Asia among US international travelers. At the same time, destinations across Canada and Mexico remain essential pillars of US outbound travel demand.

“While some destinations in both markets are experiencing moderate declines in travel intent, they continue to rank among the top international choices for American travelers, underscoring the enduring appeal of proximity, connectivity and established travel patterns.”

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
