UnderTheDoormat Group debuts TrustedStays in France

London-based hospitality operator UnderTheDoormat Group has expanded its corporate accommodation platform TrustedStays into France, listing serviced apartments and short-term rentals on global booking systems for business travel buyers.

The integration, secured through a distribution partnership with Amadeus, allows corporate travel managers to book properties from suppliers including Veeve and Quartier Libre using existing booking infrastructure.

The expansion comes as global business travel spending is forecast to reach $1.71tn (£1.26tn) in 2026, according to figures from the Global Business Travel Association. France represents one of Europe’s largest markets for business travel.

Data from French consultancy EPSA shows business travel spending in France reached €30.9bn (£26.3bn) in 2025 – surpassing the 2019 peak of €29.9bn (£25.5bn) – and is projected to grow 2.2% to €31.6bn (£26.9bn) in 2026.

Research from real estate advisor Savills also indicates European serviced apartment supply has grown at a compound annual rate of 5.9% since 2019, compared with 1.1% across traditional hotels.

Despite this growth, serviced apartments account for 8% of total accommodation supply across major European cities. Corporate travel buyers have historically faced obstacles booking non-hotel stays due to policy compliance and reporting constraints.

By integrating short-term accommodation into existing corporate travel infrastructure, parent UnderTheDoormat Group aims to streamline policy oversight for travel departments while managing distribution relationships for property owners.

Merilee Karr, chief executive of UnderTheDoormat Group, said: “Corporate travellers increasingly want more choice in how they stay, but the tools many companies rely on have traditionally been built around hotels. This has limited access to serviced apartments and short-term rentals, despite the growing need for more flexible options.

“France is an in-demand market among our global customers, so bringing it into corporate booking systems is an important milestone for the business.”

The company plans further international launches following the French expansion.

France is a distribution test after years of supply growth

News Analysis

The long route to this French launch starts with HVS’s July 2018 finding that operators were turning from consolidation towards cross-border growth. Many of those surveyed named France or the Netherlands among their intended markets. The survey tied that appetite to management and franchise agreements, which let operators expand with less property risk. By July 2019, HVS had counted 2,070 French apartments in the pipeline, so distribution now follows a building cycle already years in the making.

That new stock prompted suppliers to experiment with access before TrustedStays chose infrastructure over another shop window. Accor launched a dedicated private-rental website in December 2020, gathering its extended-stay brands and residences in one consumer-facing channel. Stay followed in January 2021 with a corporate subscription that fixed rates and guaranteed inventory under annual contracts. Those models sold controlled portfolios; TrustedStays instead acts as the distribution layer across independent suppliers.

That choice addresses the structure investors identified after the first expansion wave. Savills said in March 2022 that 60% of European stock was still unbranded, leaving scale without common distribution. Regulation has since tightened the commercial logic: stricter licensing in Paris reduces the room for informal rentals and redirects demand towards compliant apartments. Yet ownership has not caught up, with Savills now describing a fragmented local market dominated by small operators.

The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
