Village Hotel Club has announced plans to introduce on-site padel courts across multiple venues nationwide, making it the first major UK operator to do so.
The hotel chain has already installed five floodlit courts at its site in Wirral. Additional courts will open at venues in Newcastle, Warrington and Blackpool over the coming months.
Data from LTA Padel showed that more than 860,000 adult and junior players participated in the sport in 2025. This figure grew from 400,000 in 2024 and 129,000 in 2023.
The group operates 34 venues across the UK, serving 1.8 million hotel guests and 140,000 health club members each year. Existing facilities include gyms, indoor pools, exercise studios and coworking spaces.
Earlier this year, the Wirral location hosted a corporate padel event in partnership with non-alcoholic beer brand Stella Artois 0.0%.
Chris Southall, leisure director at Village Hotel Group, said: “Padel has exploded in popularity due to being social, accessible and incredibly fun. What we’re seeing at Village is that people aren’t simply booking a court – they’re making a day of it. They’re working out, meeting friends, grabbing food and drinks, staying overnight and enjoying everything else our hotels have to offer.
“As the first major UK hotel brand to roll out padel across multiple locations, we’re continuing to invest in experiences that give guests, members and local communities even more reasons to visit Village.
