Six Senses has entered into a management agreement with Patience Capital Group to develop a new hotel and residences at Mount Myoko, Japan.
Six Senses, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, has signed a hotel management agreement with Patience Capital Group for the development of a new hotel and residences at the foothills of Mount Myoko in Japan’s Suginohara ski resort. The project, named Six Senses Myoko, will feature a hotel with 57 rooms and suites, as well as 21 branded residences.
The development is located in Myoko Kogen, a well-known ski region in Japan, notable for its extensive snowfall, averaging 13.4 meters annually. The area offers 90 hectares of skiable terrain, including one of Japan’s longest slopes at 8.5 kilometers and its highest vertical drop at 1,124 meters. The location is also known for its natural hot springs and scenic landscapes.
The architectural design of the property will be led by Kengo Kuma and Kume Sekkei, with a focus on integrating the hotel into the surrounding environment. The design concept, called “Golden Wind,” aims to reflect the area’s natural elements and seasonal changes.
Six Senses Myoko will include two restaurants, a bar, and a boutique offering tailored services. The development will also feature a spa with eight treatment rooms and hydrotherapy facilities. The project is part of Patience Capital Group’s broader vision to enhance Myoko Kogen as a year-round destination, contributing to the local community’s economic development.
The hotel is accessible from Tokyo, with a three-hour drive or a two-hour train ride. Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026. This development is part of IHG’s strategy to expand the Six Senses brand, which currently operates 27 hotels and resorts in 22 countries, with 38 additional properties in the pipeline.
