Irish lifestyle hotel brand The Dean has opened a 281-room property in Munich, marking the company’s largest hotel launch to date.
The opening in the Westend neighbourhood follows the launch of a Berlin site in February 2026. The Munich property features three bars, a Japanese restaurant, a fitness centre and an art programme.
Designer Tatjana von Stein designed the social and gathering spaces, combining elements of Bavarian Art Nouveau heritage with 1980s Munich design themes. The interior includes custom furniture from Tatjana von Stein Studio alongside vintage pieces.
Author and curator Christian Ganzenberg managed the art collection, which focuses on contemporary Munich-based artists. The on-site restaurant, Ibasho, features a modern Japanese menu developed by consultant chef Alex Craciun.
The hotel also houses a fitness and wellness space called Power, which includes an indoor pool, a sauna, a steam room and a thermal suite.
Von Stein said: “This is a city rooted in history but always drawn to reinvention. I wanted to captre that tension – somewhere between elegance and exuberance – and let it guide every surface, object and gesture.
“The design also brings to life a side of Munich only locals truly know: its rich musical and cultural spirit, quietly woven into the character of the city.”
