The Marazion Hotel in Cornwall has been sold for an undisclosed sum off a freehold asking price of £1.5m.
The hotel features 11 en suite bedrooms, an apartment, restaurant and a bar, as well as a beer garden and car park.
Situated in the coastal town of Marazion, a popular tourist destination that attracts nearly 350,000 visitors annually.
The Marazion Hotel holds an AA-rated 4 Star Gold Inn rating, and has also received other accolades including an AA Dinner Award and being a finalist for the Taste of the West Hotel of the Year 2024.
The hotel has been owned by the same family since 1982, who have now sold the site to new owners..
First-time buyers Sarah Grey and Yves Giebens have recently moved to Cornwall and will continue to operate the hotel as an independent, family-owned business.
They said: “We are excited to become part of the Marazion Hotel’s long history. With its origins as a coaching inn dating back to around 1700, the Marazion Hotel has a special place in the community. We look forward to working with the excellent team at the hotel to build on everything, and to ensure the hotel remains a welcoming and valued venue for the community and visitors alike.”
Stephen Champion, director of hotels at Christie and Co, who managed the sale process, said: “The Marazion Hotel’s superb location, combined with its year-on-year growth in both revenue and profits, made it an exciting prospect for buyers.
“We are delighted to see the hotel sold to a buyer with such a strong local connection and wish Sarah and Yves every success as the new custodians of the Marazion Hotel.”
Tamara Ryan, senior finance consultant at Christie Finance, who helped provide funding, said: “I’ve really got to know Sarah and Yves well over the last year or so, and it’s been an absolute pleasure working with them. Given Sarah’s connections to Cornwall, it’s lovely to be part of their journey, starting their next venture in this fabulous location and hotel.
“It is also positive to note that there is funding available to first-time buyers within the hospitality sector. I wish them all the best and I can’t wait to visit them in action!”
