Hilton is expanding its Irish operations through new hotel signings, brand debuts and property openings, creating more than 150 jobs across the country, building on its existing portfolio of eight hotels across six brands.
The expansion includes an agreement to bring the DoubleTree by Hilton brand to Ireland by converting a 156-room hotel in Ashbourne, near Dublin.
Set to open in early 2027, the hotel will undergo full refurbishment to upgrade guest rooms, dining facilities and public areas 25 minutes from Dublin Airport. The project brings Hilton’s total workforce in Ireland to nearly 1,000 staff across eight hotel properties.
The group recently opened the 290-suite Home2 Suites by Hilton Dublin City Centre near O’Connell Street, marking the brand’s European debut. Hilton also signed Cork City Centre, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, a 103-room property opening on South Terrace in 2027 in partnership with JMK Group.
In Northern Ireland, Hilton plans to launch the 144-room Tempo by Hilton Belfast City Centre, its first property under that brand outside the United States. Recent regional developments also include DoubleTree signings in Belfast and Derry – Londonderry, alongside the opening of The Marcus Portrush, Tapestry Collection by Hilton.
Richard McDermott, proprietor of the Ashbourne property, said: “Partnering with Hilton marks an exciting next step for the hotel. Alongside a refreshed guest experience, it will help create employment opportunities and deliver long-term value for the local area. Backed by Hilton’s commercial strength and global loyalty programme, we’re confident the hotel will become a go-to destination for guests visiting Dublin and beyond.”
Paul Blackmore, vice president of development for UK and Ireland at Hilton, added: “Ireland’s enduring appeal makes it an attractive market for Hilton, with strong demand in cities and across the regions. The opening of Home2 Suites, alongside new signings including DoubleTree by Hilton Ashbourne, and continued expansion of brands such as Tapestry Collection by Hilton, underlines our confidence in the country. We remain focused on expanding our footprint and working with owners and partners to bring the right brands to the right locations while supporting tourism and long-term investment.”
