Montcalm Royal London House in Finsbury Square has joined Marriott International’s Autograph Collection Hotels, marking a new chapter for the London property.
The hotel, which occupies the former headquarters of Royal Mail, has also refurbished guest rooms and public spaces alongside a series of new experiences centred around the building’s history as a centre of communication.
All 253 guest rooms and suites have been refurbished, with new interiors combining neutral tones with richer accents, artwork and feature walls. The hotel has also introduced Terrace Suites on the top floor, each with direct access to a private terrace and outdoor lounge area overlooking the London skyline.
The property’s postal heritage has been incorporated throughout the guest experience under the concept of the “Art of Expression”, which includes a replica green Royal Mail post box, on loan from the nearby Postal Museum, alongside a traditional red post box where guests can send handwritten messages using bespoke postcards.
The hotel’s public spaces include more than 900 artworks by 30 artists, with creative studio Creative A overseeing the styling and art curation. A rotating gallery in partnership with Rise Art will also showcase seasonal exhibitions, with the first exhibition set to launch 1 October 2026.
The hotel is also working with London Writers’ Salon on calligraphy workshops, writing salons and literary events, scheduled to take place from October.
Jonathan Mills, head of hotels at Montcalm Collection, said: “For generations, words, stories and personal messages passed through this building. As Montcalm Royal London House enters its next chapter, we wanted to honour that legacy in a way that feels relevant, creative and deeply human.
“The Art of Expression invites guests to become part of the story, from sending a handwritten postcard to discovering contemporary art and poetry throughout the hotel. Joining Autograph Collection Hotels allows us to share this original London experience with Marriott Bonvoy members and travellers worldwide, while retaining the independence, character and sense of place that make the hotel distinctive.”
Sandra Schulze-Potgieter, vice president, premium, select and midscale brands, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Marriott International, said: “Autograph Collection Hotels was created for properties with a real story to tell and Montcalm Royal London House’s history as the former Royal Mail headquarters gives it exactly that kind of character. It’s the sort of heritage that can’t be manufactured, and it’s what makes the hotel such a natural fit for the collection.”

The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
