Inception Group to launch new bar at Admiralty Arch hotel

London hospitality operator Inception Group has announced plans to open a 2,400sq ft bar concept, The Admiral’s Mess, at the new Waldorf Astoria London – Admiralty Arch.

The 60-seat venue will sit outside the operator’s established brands, which include Mr Fogg’s and Cahoots. It joins planned restaurants from chefs Clare Smyth and Daniel Boulud inside the Grade I-listed monument, which developer Reuben Brothers is restoring in partnership with Hilton.

Located at the end of The Mall opposite Buckingham Palace, the 114-room hotel will also feature a ballroom for up to 500 guests alongside two other bar spaces, Whiskey and Seaweed and a signature cocktail venue.

Inception Group currently operates 10 locations across London, including venues in Mayfair, Soho, Borough, Chelsea and Battersea Power Station.

Charlie Gilkes, co-founder of Inception Group, said: “We are honoured to have the opportunity to open within such an iconic London location and are excited to have created a totally unique concept fitting for such a historic site.”

Guillaume Marly, general manager of Waldorf Astoria London – Admiralty Arch, added: “We are delighted to partner with Inception Group to introduce an exciting new bar concept. Their expertise in crafting memorable experiences makes them a natural partner.”

The bar joins a hotel shaped by rescue and delay

News Analysis

The Admiral’s Mess is joining a hotel whose operator roster took shape only after its capital structure changed. When Reuben Brothers moved to acquire the project in June 2022, the previous developer had already sought fresh financing after construction delays and missed completion targets. Reuben had first entered as lender, then refinanced that debt before taking control. The present food-and-drink partnerships grew from its subsequent redesign.

That takeover reset the clock. Hilton promised a 2025 opening in December 2022, after Reuben upgraded the development plans and increased accommodation. By February 2025, the launch had moved to 2026 as the hotel appointed its first named chef partners. The sequencing matters: Reuben and Hilton settled the luxury flag and headline restaurants before adding a London bar operator, treating the public venues as a collection of separately recruited destinations.

With ownership and chefs settled, the project finally acquired a saleable opening window. The hotel moved from partnership names to operating plans in November 2025, assigning each chef a distinct part of the building. That sequence places Inception among the final operators added after the hotel began selling stays. In June 2026, it opened reservations for an autumn launch, giving the delayed conversion its first commercial deadline supported by live bookings.
