Langham Hospitality Group appoints new COO

Langham Hospitality Group (LHG) has appointed Nils-Arne Schroeder as chief operating officer, effective 22 June 2026, as the luxury hotel operator continues to expand its international portfolio.

Schroeder will oversee operations across the group’s portfolio of more than 30 hotels and residences and support the opening and integration of more than 20 properties currently in development. The pipeline includes the group’s first hotel in Thailand, new openings in China this year, followed by projects in Italy and Malaysia in 2027 and Saudi Arabia in 2028.

He joins LHG with more than 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, most recently serving as senior vice president of operations for Europe and Africa at Raffles and Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, based in Dubai. Before that, he held the role of senior vice president of operations for Asia, the Middle East and Africa at Fairmont.

Earlier in his career, Schroeder spent more than two decades with Hilton, where he held a number of hotel, regional and brand leadership positions across Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. His most recent role at the company was vice president of luxury and lifestyle for Asia Pacific, alongside serving as global brand head for Conrad Hotels and Resorts.

Based at Langham Hospitality Group’s headquarters in Hong Kong, Schroeder will report to chief executive Bob van den Oord. His responsibilities will also include oversight of the group’s operations and quality and sustainability functions.

Van den Oord said: “As we expand to more destinations, Nils’ breadth of experience across regions, cultures and hotel segments will be a major asset. He has a proven ability to respond to market needs without diluting brand identity, and to turn that balance into sustained performance.”

Schroeder added: “With an exciting pipeline of new hotels and residences, there is a tremendous opportunity to build on that foundation while continuing to deliver operational excellence across every property.”
