Virgin Hotels Collection has announced the appointment of interim boss Joe Margison as chief executive officer to lead its global expansion.
Margison, who has held the role on an interim basis since October 2025, will now oversee the hospitality group’s 16 properties across the US, the Caribbean, Africa and Europe.
The appointment comes as the firm, which combines Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition, prepares to open new sites in Atlanta and Marrakech in 2027.
Margison joined Virgin Group in 2015 and previously served as chief commercial officer. His 25-year career includes roles at the New Zealand Superannuation Fund and EY.

He has brought clarity, confidence and renewed focus to the business while continuing to champion Virgin’s distinctive spirit and experience-led approach to hospitality.
“We are delighted to confirm his permanent appointment and look forward to the next phase of growth under his leadership.”
Margison added: “Having led the Virgin Hotels Collection team for seven months, I have seen first-hand the strength of this business and the opportunity ahead. I’m excited to lead the business through its next chapter of growth.”
