Independent Manchester hotel The Alan has expanded its senior leadership team, appointing Claire McGinnis as general manager and Elizabeth Morris as sales manager, as it enters its next phase of growth following a major renovation.

McGinnis brings more than a decade of senior leadership experience in hotel management, previously serving as general manager at the Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly, hotel manager at INNSiDE by Melia, Liverpool and operations manager at DoubleTree Chester and Crowne Plaza Chester.

In her new role, McGinnis will oversee day-to-day hotel operations, guest experiences and commercial performance, with a focus on growing and developing the hotel’s team.

Morris brings extensive experience across the travel and hospitality sectors, joining McGinnis as part of a newly expanded sales team. Prior to joining The Alan, she spent a decade in UK travel at Skyes Cottages and two years as head of events at Hotel, managing client accounts across various industries.

In her new role, Morris will focus on strengthening relationships across the city and raise awareness of the hotel’s offering to drive new business opportunities.

McGinnis said: “My focus is always the team – I believe that if you put the right people in the right places, give them the support and tools to do their job, everything else will work itself out. We’ve got a really strong team here and I can’t wait to see what we can do together.”
