Accor has officially opened The Queen at Chester Hotel under its Handwritten Collection brand, after securing a management agreement with LGH Hotel Management.
The 218-room property becomes the latest addition to the brand’s global portfolio, which currently operates across 20 countries with more than 50 open hotels and a further 50 in development.
Located near Chester city centre, the property features the King’s Grill, the V&A Restaurant, the V&A Lounge Bar and the V&A Terrace.
First opened in 1860 to serve first-class rail passengers, the building has hosted notable guests over its 165-year history, including author Charles Dickens and actress Lillie Langtry.
Aidan McAuley, a spokesperson for Accor in the UK and Ireland, said: “As a UK first for the Handwritten Collection, this latest addition is testament to our strong ambition for the market, where we see great potential for continued expansion across our brands.”
Andrew Munt, chief executive of LGH Hotel Management, added: “Through our partnership with Accor, we look forward to welcoming guests from around the world to experience the unique character, history and warmth that make Chester so special.
